Dr. Zaki is a General Manager at SFD. And The Chairman of Business Enterprise Support Tools “BEST Foundation,” a UNDP and Social Fund for Development- Cabinet initiative established to help SME’s. He also serves as an Executive Board Member of The Egyptian Franchise Development Association. And board member of The Egyptian Micro Finance Union.
Dr. Zaki’s renown in the franchising industry makes him an invaluable resource person for the African Development Bank where he shares expertise on franchise development, SME development, and licensing. He is also a regular speaker at franchise conferences around the world, especially in Africa, Europe, South East Asia and the Middle East.
Dr. Zaki was a part time lecturer at the German University in Cairo where he taught business innovation courses to MBA students. At the Franchise Expo Paris, he was one of only three international franchise professionals selected as a jury member for the Business Award Franchise.
Dr. Zaki holds a Ph.D. degree from the American University of London (AUOL), an MBA degree from Central Michigan University/ Graduate School of Business, Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT). Graduated From Cairo University Faculty Of Commerce – Bachelor degree in Commerce, Accounting With emphasis on Business Administration, May 1986 and a Banking Diploma from Chartered Institute of Bankers Kent, UK. He also holds a Banking Credit Analyst Certification from the American University in Cairo and a Certification for Accredited Association Executive, USA. Certified Board Member, Egyptian Institute of Directors (EIoD)- Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority (EFSA).
Educator, author, and speaker, Dr. John P. Hayes, is a member of the faculty at Gulf University for Science & Technology in Kuwait, where he teaches a variety of courses in both Mass Communications and Business Administration. He’s the author of more than 20 non-fiction books, countless articles on business topics, and he has spoken to Fortune 500 companies, international business associations, franchise and network marketing companies. He is a senior advisor to Bizcom Public Relations in the USA.
For more than 30 years, Dr. Hayes has been an advisor to franchise companies internationally. He teaches annually at the International Franchise Expo in New York City, sponsored by the International Franchise Association. He speaks at numerous franchise events including the Abu Dhabi International Franchise Conference & Expo.
Since joining GUST in 2010, he has directed the Kuwait Leadership Mastery program, funded by the U.S. State Department, and the annual GUST Case Writing Competition, sponsored by MEGlobal, based in Dubai.
Dr. Hayes is the co-author of Franchising: The Inside Story, the first book to explain how to investigate and acquire a franchise opportunity. He has written other books with franchisors, including You Can’t Teach A Kid To Ride A Bike At A Seminar, with David Sandler, founder of Sandler Sales System; and Start Small, Finish Big, with the co-founder of Subway Restaurants. He is the author of three e-books devoted to franchising: Buy “Hot” Franchises Without Getting Burned, 12 Amazing Franchise Opportunities for 2015, and 101 Questions To Ask Before You Invest in a Franchise. All three titles have been #1 best sellers in the Franchise category on Amazon. Through the years Dr. Hayes has contributed articles to newspapers and magazines worldwide, and has served as the editor of two franchise magazines, as well as a newsletter devoted to master franchising. Prior to moving to Kuwait, he was the President & CEO of HomeVestors of America, Inc., a major real estate investment franchise in the USA.
Born in Milan in 1949, Italo Bussoli holds a Bachelor of Art degree in Political Science – International Specialization.
Starting his career as an economic journalist, from 1977 to 1999 he was Secretary General of Assicc , the Italian Association of Chemical trade. In the same period, he joined ANCE (now Aice, the Italian Association of Foreign Trade that incorporates and represents a large number of international Trading Companies) as its Secretary General.From 1995 to 1999 he led the Foreign Trade Dept. of the Union of Commerce, Tourism and Services of Milan province. During his period with Aice, Italo Bussoli acquired a wide experience in International business. Success rewarded Italo Bussoli's major efforts to consolidate relations in economic and diplomatic world trade environments when he productively conducted scouting missions to challenging and tough markets worldwide. His knowledge of the political and commercial mapping of developing countries, combined with his skill in approaching them, is only one of his numerous assets.
Furthermore, in 1999/2000 he was also General Manager/CEO of Expo CTS, the subsidiary of the Italian General Confederation of Commerce, Tourism and Services (Confcommercio) in charge of the organization of several International Exhibitions.
In addition, he was a Testimonial of IMF (International Monetary Fund) for the General Trade sector.
Along with that, from 1982 to January 2002 he has been Secretary General of ACMI - the Italian Association of Credit Managers that brings together over 600 Italian Managers engaged in all aspects of Credit Management.
Starting with January 2001 Mr.Bussoli was the CEO of E-comest, his own Company, and combines forces with most of the main Foreign Trade Organizations and Groups, both Italian and International . He operates as a Foreign Trade consultant of a selected few Companies as well.
From 2002 to 2004 he was sole director of SICO, a limited liability company specialized in barter advertising, supervising the international sector.
From 2004 is Secretary General and Chair’s Delegate of ASSOFRANCHISING – the Italian Association of Franchising – with the complete management of the Association.
In 2013 he was also nominated Deputy Chairman of ASSOFRANCHISING
In 2016 he has been nominated Chairman of Assofranchsing.
Mr. Bussoli speaks fluent English, Spanish and Portuguese . He has Knowledge of French.
Matthew Patinkin has been a senior executive, consultant and board member for multi- unit retail, specialty food franchise, and related businesses for over 35 years. Mr. Patinkin sits on the Board of the International Franchise Association, and is incoming Chair of the IFA’s International Committee.
Mr. Patinkin co-founded Double P Corporation, a multi-unit specialty food franchise company based in Chicago, IL. Double P currently owns and operates Auntie Anne’s Pretzel, Red Mango Frozen Yogurt, Jamba Juice, and Cinnabon stores in eight states and Canada, and is the largest franchisee of Auntie Anne’s in the North America. Mr. Patinkin is an active partner and member of the Board.
Mr. Patinkin also serves on the Board of GSP Technology, based in Clearwater, FL. GSP provides advanced point-of- purchase solutions and site profiling tools to large, multi-unit retail, franchise and convenience store brands throughout the US. GSP’s products are found in over 60,000 locations nationwide.
Mr. Patinkin serves as President of Patinkin Red Angus Farm, located in Northwest Illinois. We operate over 2,500 acres of corn, soybeans, and a 700 herd cow-calf operation.
Mr. Patinkin is on the Advisory Board of Ale Syndicate Brewery, a craft brewer based in Chicago, IL.
Finally, Mr. Patinkin sits on an advisory board of the Chicago Bears Football team.
From 1979-2006, Mr. Patinkin was Executive Vice President with Whitehall Jewellers (NYSE: JWL), a national chain of retail jewelry stores. With almost 400 stores, 2,500 employees, and over $300M in sales, Whitehall was the fifth largest publicly held jeweler in the United States. Mr. Patinkin was a senior member of management and Director of JWL.
Mr. Patinkin served on the Board of Sara Investment Real Estate from 2007-2013. Based in Madison, WI, Sara invests in, develops and manages mixed use properties throughout the state of Wisconsin, with a net asset value in excess of $150M.
Mr. Patinkin graduated from Beloit College in 1979 with a degree in Economics.
Born in Angola, she studied in South Africa for three years, then ten years in Brazil and finished her studies in Fashion Design, in Portugal.
Joined the labour market, in 1991, in the retail business, having subsequently completed an MBA in Retail Management, in USA.
The approximation to the franchising business occurs in 2001, having undergone a training in franchising, for six months, with the Dwyer Group, in USA. For six years, she was Vice-president of the Portuguese Franchising Association and currently serves as there General Manager. She has been already for four years, member of the jury: The Best Franchise of the World.
